ADHD… a blessing in disguise?

The symptoms and tendencies of ADHD are numerous and can be conflicting with what everyone might consider the norm.  On the flip side learning to manage these symptoms and building the strengths can make for an amazing combination of skills.  I tend to look at my ADHD as a blessing in disguise.  To the blind eye, it is a disorder, but if you allow yourself to see it clearly for what it is, it is just a different way of life.  If all ADHD/ADD people were put on an island to live, would we really know we had ADHD/ADD or would our ways be considered just the way it is?  If I didn’t have ADHD, the multitasking skills I have from a brain that is constantly switching gears would not exist.  Not to mention the numerous thoughts I have about the many things I want to do with my life.  I figure if I think up 100 ideas and in my life I only get around to accomplishing 50 of those ideas, then that is still 50 more things accomplished than what the average person has done right?  Actually, considering the other possible disorders, disabilities, cancers, etc out there, I feel very blessed that all I have is ADHD.  It is something I can deal with, especially with the right knowledge, training, education, and adaptations to control it.  For me, ADHD is the norm and that is just the way it is.
