ADHD at Work

Adderall

Hi all,
I € ™ve just been prescribed Adderall 10m and was curious about all of your thoughts on the medication! Had this medication messed with your work performance in a negative? Any side effects or reactions you known of would be insightful! Thank you :0)

Work… Work… Work… at least thats what it did to me.  I can focus on everything I am doing and get it done so much faster than when I could not organize my brain. Besides my job over a period of a few months I fixed everything that needed to be fixed in my house and more… Then I still needed something to do so I started rebuilding fishing reels…

I take the extended release version, so when the first dose starts to wear off I get severely hungry almost to the point of being sick. So I started keeping a box of graham crackers in my desk, I eat a couple of those and it passes.

The one last thing, and this is different for everyone but it made me 1000X more assertive than I was in the past. This can be a good thing to a point, but have to watch my tongue sometimes.

It works for work; if that’s what you want it to do. I’ve also noticed that it has changed my attitude at home for the better. But it’s nothing without commitment to making things better all around. But with the commitment it makes things much more tolerable. It has helped me.

At work I’m pretty focused but I’m a bit of a type A person. I think I have social issues. I’m hoping I’ll be able to read longer articles. Plus be able to not focus on everything around me! Thank you all for your replies!

Are you taking the XR or the IR? They work very differently. I hope your finding success with your dose.

Not sure Bab. I’ve been taken off of 10m and switched to 15 m and I haven’t taken it yet! Will follow up, when I can report! Happy holidays!

I am on Adderall 30 mg 2 x a day.  I was diagnosed in 2006 with ADHD.  I had the same job for 23+ years and was terminated last year because a new supervisor made my life miserable because of my ADHD.  I was a medical transcriptionist.  I think I was able to concentrate because you are wearing a headset, typing, and not having a lot of stimuli.  The ADHD was not the only reason I was terminated; my supervisor was a “bully and harasser” not only to me.  It is a long story, but I ended up filing with the EEOC/ERD and I did receive unemployment.  The Adderall XR did not work for me.  Now, I have a new problem of finding a job, which seems to be difficult, but I may just do independent transcription at home.  Also, I am sure your physician will eventually find the correct dosage of medication for you or perhaps try something different.  It can take time because everyone is different.

The 15 me didn’t do anything and I haven’t been back since, because I didn’t want to come off as if I was pushing for a hire dosage just because! As for work my supervisor is the same, but I’m refusing to leave till I have a better opportunity! I’ve had a whole college department along with vep along with President of my previous college try to stop me from graduating because I wouldn’t tolerate trash being thrown on my station, didn’t like my work being broken because the professors and student didn’t like me! I’m saying all this to say I’ve been there and all my previous issues have scared me, but I have to keep in faith that all of this will amount to something great from God!
