Artificial colors, do they bother you?

I did an experiment this fall to see if leaving artificial colors out of my diet would improve my skin. I found when I cut out artificial colors , I felt more alert and with it, also my skin cleared up. Over the holidays, I slipped on the healthy diet, and boy did I pay. My skin really broke out, it took about 3 weeks for it to clear up. I also noticed I felt logy and foggy… But once the artificial colors were out of my system, I felt better, does anyone else have issues with artificial colors???

Never even thought about it. I don’t know what you were eating or eat now, but is it possible that the foods without color were healthier anyway, or were you able to isolate the fact that it was the colorings? For example, you might feel better after eating oatmeal than some SugarBombFruityCrunch cereal but it’s not because of the coloring…
This is interesting. I’ll be following this thread to see of other have noticed differences.

I was telling my mom just yesterday that I think the thing about artificial colors is true, because the day before I had a noticeable reaction for the first time. I had had this artificial sweetner in drinks before, but I rarely drink red colored drinks. I have never liked them the best, so I drank other flavors. Well, this past week, I had about a 16 oz glass, and I put one of those artificially sweetened, red colored powders in in. By the time I got down to 1/2 glass, I felt very aggitated and wired. It was so noticeable that I told my mom about it. She used to work in a daycare, and she had a child who absolutely could not have artificial colors. I specifically remember the blue 40 and red for him. Hope this helps someone. I definitely agree that they are harmful, at least to the ADHD person.

Very Severe migraines from the colour in orange cheese, no matter whether in UK or USA. Sick all night 02:00am to 12:00 noon then in bed to sleep off pain until 5pm - not good during a business trip! Saw a little big of orange in the yellow cheese on enchiladas thought it was just a stray piece - must have been more than I thought! Not a good end to a week’s global business conference in Houston!

I know many people who have had problems with dyes that are put in our food and even supplements. One of my own family members is only 7 and we have to watch what she is given to eat.
I know of it creating digestive problems in her case and migraines in others.
I think this was a very good post and subject to bring up.  Thank you
