Bipolar Disorder and ADHD

Bipolar / ADHD? - live fell apart in Chicago where for help?

Need information on 1) Organizing life and business ADHD/bipolar and narcolepsy 2) Considerations of BIpolar 2 and ADHD and narcolepsy.  Where can I find this -

My information…

Most recently was in psych hospital - suicidal thoughts etc.

My business and life are failing -  bipolar/adhd symptoms have destroyed largely both.

Symptoms - lack of concentration, forgetfulness, no concept of time - late late late, disorganized, impulsivity, non linear thinking, constantly have a new idea - stop working and go off on a tangent, spending money on and on.

Meds - Need bipolar meds to be stabilize need narcolepsy to stay awake.  What do I do to ease the ADHD like symptoms w/o being asleep.

Do I need an ADHD coach for life and busines?  Do I also need Psychiatrist with expertise in dealing with bipolar vs. adhd / meds .

Information:

Bipolar 2 - for 15 yrs.
Bipolar meds - depakote, lithium, etc etc
Narcolepsy - recently diagnosed
Narco - meds - Nuvigil /  Adderall - 60 mg now.
Was as high as 100mg.  QUESTION ON THIS GIVEN BIPOLAR VS.  ADHD??
ADHD symptoms - most of life.  Could be BP 2 only or both.
Adderall gets me energized though somewhat hypo manic, concentration is intense, can get agitated angry.
Now taking cognitive and dialetical behavior classes
CANT WORK WITHOUT DEALING WITH THE ADHD LIKE ISSUE.  ORGANIZATION, IMPULSIVITY, FORGETFULNESS, TIME, NON LINEAR THINKING. —-  WITHOUT CHANGE I WILL WIND UP IN THIS SAME PLACE IM AFRAID.

What ideas?  Anyone to see in Chicago?  Books to read?  Bri

Hi bpomerco!

I am sorry to hear you are struggling. It sounds like your cocktail of medications for treatment is not as effective as it should be. I found a great article on ADDitudemag.com on bipolar and ADHD that I think may be a helpful read for you: http://www.additudemag.com/adhd/article/2511.html.

If your meds aren’t great and your prescribing doctor is not hearing your concerns, look for a second opinion. A psychiatrist who specializes in these disorders is wise.

I think an ADHD coach is a great idea to help you get organized and run your business effectively.

Good luck to you!
