CONCERTA TWICE DAILY???

I AM 34 AND HAVE WAS DIAGNOSED AND TREATED WITH 54MG CONCERTA OVER A YEAR AGO. I AM INATTENTIVE, NOT HYPERACTIVE.  I AM A STAY AT HOME MOM…. MY DAYS ARE NOW MORE PRODUCTIVE, I WAS HAPPY WITH MY TREATMENT. I NOTICED THAT I “CRASH” ABOUT 3ISH, BUT MY DUTIES DONT ALLOW FOR THAT, SO I CONTINUE, WITH HOMEWORK, DINNER, OTHER ROUTINE THINGS, BUT WHEN ITS “MY TIME” AGAIN, AT 8 OR 9… IM NOT SLEEPY BUT MY BRAIN STOPPED WORKING.  I AM ONLY GOOD FOR VEGGING IN FRONT OF THE TV, BUT I ENJOY BOOKS PUZZLES AND GAMES, AND CANT DO THEM….. SO I TOLD MY DOC AND HE CHANGED MY PRESCRIPTION.  NOW I STILL TAKE MY SAME 54 IN THE MORNING, BUT 36 AT 2PM.  SLEEP AND SIDE EFFECTS ARENT A PROBLEM FOR ME.  HE SAID FOR ME TO TRY THAT, AND HE MAY UP THE AFTERNOON DOSE TO 54…

DOES ANYONE HAVE SIMILAR EXPERIENCES? WILL THE 36 GIVE ME ENOUGH AFTERNOON BRAIN POWER, WHEN I NORMALLY NEED 54???

I would think that your doctor is experimenting with the 36 at 2 pm.  I would call him and tell him your dilemma.

I sometimes have a crash time too.  I am on Adderall 60 mg daily.  You have a lot on your plate too.  Do something for yourself.  I heard that mindless thinking is good.  Yesterday, I took a bath and played music.  The next day, I had lots to do.  I came home and was so tired.  I am 55 years old.

Sometimes, when I know I am starting to get tired during the day, I will have a cup of coffee to perk up (my physician said that was okay).  I even take Excedrin (about 1/2 of one) because it contains caffeine.  But, of course, I would ask your physician too.

We had our grandchild sleep over 2 nights last weekend (he is 5).  I felt paralyzed after he left.  Some tiredness has to do with my age.  I think children can suck a lot out of a person’s day too - no matter how old you are!

You might want to take vitamins - if you don’t already.

I’m 39 and I have the same problem. When I crash I crash hard. I used to be on Concerta 54mg and then when I had to study at night, I would take Ritalin to cover me for a few more hours. The lower dose your Dr. Prescribed seems I would think would be to help you function enough but not to interrupt your sleep.
