Concerta Reviews

Concerta - generic 18mg

My 5 1/2 year old son has been on the generic concerta 18 mg for 6 days now. When do I see results? Luckly it took two days of practice to get him to swallow the pill….Cold Strawberry Applesauce has worked great!  Does it take awhile to see results? My son has ADHD and Anxiety with some behavior problems. Struggles at school with focusing, sitting still, not particpating in anything.  Any insight would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks

My then 9yo son started on 36 mg Concerta (didn’t have generic then) last year..then dr. said the results would be dramatic and they were.  Focused in school.hyper talkative ..very little appetite and up til midnight (I thought that was a high dose to start him off with).  Thank goodness after a couple of weeks things leveled off where the side effects wern’t as severe and he still maintained focus.  But to answer your question..yes the change in him was immediate.  I would tell my Dr. if you were not seeing any results yet.  I’ve “heard” that if your child doesn’t need the medicine ..it will not work for them.  But all children are different of course..check with your dr.  I have switched him to the generic as soon as it became available..have seen no change in the results.

I am definitely not an expert so please do some research first. Our case worker said an email had been sent to everyone in the office so all the workers could advise their families they deal with about the generic Concerta. Apparently, in some cases it causes to opposite effect as to what the real Concerta is diagnosised for.  Simply put the generic Concerta is not advisable and make sure the doctor states no substitutions on the prescription.  Do your own research into this matter but I wanted to at least advise you of this. We love our children dearly and only want the best for them.  All the best.

I was told by my daughter’s doctor not to use the generic form of concerta.

Wow..like I said previously I had not noticed any change since changing to the generic. Just thoughtthe better sleep was more because his body was getting adjusted to it.  My son has a med-check dr appt next week.  I will ask the Dr. about this.  He has had a rough week this week and wondered if it was because we need to change his meds or because we had a death of a close friend in the family and his and my schedule has been off since then.  If he needs the actual Concerta I will certainly switch back…although it is not as kind on my pocketbook…of course I will do what is best for him.  Think I will start a differnt thread about this.

Is 36 mgs of
concerta too much if my son weighs 70lbs?

Check the label on your prescription bottle and see if the pills are made by Watson Pharmaceuticals. If so, these are Concerta, not a generic. Watson won a federal ruling allowing them to repackage Concerta and label them generic.
