Concerta & Intuniv

My 8 year old son takes a combination of 27 mg. of Concerta and 4 mg of Intuniv.  We have some rough mornings before things kick in and a burst of energy before bed time.  Do any of you have any different approaches with these medications?  Are there any other techniques that can help during these “rough” times?

My son is on the Daytrana patch, 5mg Ritalin and 1 mg Intuniv.  I put his patch on him and give him his Ritalin pill about 30 minutes before he has to get out of bed.  That gives time for the Ritalin to start acting before he has to get up in the morning.

I give him the Intuniv about an hour before he goes to bed at night.  That helps him to sleep all night.

We have just recently added Intuniv to my son’s Concerta. We were instructed to give him the Intuniv before bed (since it is not a stimulant). This has done wonders for his attitude and behavior on the mornings.
