Hi,
I have a 6 year old boy who has ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Food Allergies and is gifted. I have been working with a Naturopathic Doctor, Specialist and have been doing my own research since he turned 4yrs old. This is what I have found out to be extremely helpful. 70% of your immune system is in your intestines. This is where your neurotransmitters, hormones etc. all all afftected by what you eat. My son has Leaky Gut which impairs the body from absorbing his food properly. We are still working on healing his Leaky Gut and stay away from Wheat, Gluten, Dairy, Soy, and Sugar. This makes a huge difference in him. Last year I let him have one snack a day at school with the other children and it included one of the above items. (I didn’t think once a day was bad) Within a month my son got More hyperactive which resulted in him stuttering, a eye tick and throat tic (always clearing his throat). I pulled back the reins and got super strick with his food and after 30 days they went away. He is also allergic to garlic and eggs. I also had his neurotransmitters tested with the Naturopathic Dr. (urine test) and they found he was low in serotonin. We give him chewy pills every day (natural) and he is so much less hyperactive. I hope this helps. I don’t know where you live, but we are in Sacramento and found an integrative medicine dr. for pediatrics in San Francisco that is covered my my insurance! He is helping us with our boy too. Wishing you peace in your journey.
regarding a support group:
Contact your local CHADD group. I found a great group on Long Island, NY—very helpful parent support group.
I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see another parent not drugging their kid! There are so many other options to drugs and I feel it is almost abusive for parents to just blindly medicate without researching the medication and alternate therapies first. Have you tested for a yeast-overgrowth? Super simple test and the eradication of yeast has fantastic results. check out Danasview. She has so much information ans a cornucopia of recovery stories without using harmful over-stimulating and addictive drugs.
