ADHD Nutrition and Weight Loss/Gain
How do I get a problem eater to gain weight
My son is 5 years old with ADHD. He is on several meds. Always he has issues with weight (never enough). He currently weighs 35 pounds. The doctors are concerned but their suggestions are not working. Does anyone have suggestions on what I can feed him to put on calories? We tried Pedisure and Carnation Breakfast but he hates both. He is lactose intolerant and doesn’t like many foods. Any advise is appreciated.

My daughter is 7 and has always been off the charts tall for her age, and right around 50% for weight, so always on the thin side. She has struggled to gain weight since going on Concerta in Feb 10, but has gained a little.
We add whey protein to her milk at breakfast and dinner every day. She (and one of her friends) likes it better than Carnation or Ensure/Pediasure. We get it at Sam’s, its EAS brand.
We also make sure every meal and snack has fat and protein. Breakfast she has the protein with a glass of whole milk, and has homemade granola we add extra flax seed to for her. Lunch at school is a Target brand protein bar. They have 10-14 g of protein and 6-8 g of fat. She isn’t much for lunch, so its something. Snacks are generall some whole grain carb with peanut butter, cream cheese or full fat dressing of some sort. Dinner we add butter, cream cheese or peanut butter where we can. We also do the protein powder in her milk then too.
Mainly we try to have protein and fat with each thing she has. Flax seed is a good source of fat that can easily be added to lots of things. I add it to pancakes and then put cream cheese on the pancakes instead of syrup. Right now she loves cream cheese on triscuits for a snack.
