ADHD Adults

Making loud noises
Keywords:

Hi all,
I wonder whether you adults can help me with this question. I want to understand why my daughter (18) makes loud sharp noises at random times -  screams, screamed songs, words or phrases. It is as loud as she can do it, and as sharp or as grating as possible, usually close to someone’s ear.
She’s been told very many times that it is unpleasant for others.
Why? It gets everyone’s attention and it dominates situations. Could it be a release of tension? But then why in public?
I’ve never seen this mentioned as a feature of ADHD, but it’s very striking.
Can you tell me what this is about or how they handle it?
Thanks!
