Moving is good for me
I know that walking is good for me, but I just can’t make myself get up and do it. I have every excuse, please offer suggestions or tricks. I love it and how it makes me feel, but I just can’t get moving.

Join a team sport. I used to have those kind of problems when I depended upon myself for motovation, but then I joined a team sport. Now, if I don’t go I’m not only letting myself down, I’m letting my team down.
You could try a group fitness training program/ class. This way there isn’t any added pressure of letting others down. But there is a definite TIME you need to get there. Plus people will start to know your name and they’ll notice when you’re gone.
If you’re not into group stuff, try thinking about it like brushing your teeth. Do it FIRST in your day. When you wake up -no matter the time, You
1. workout 2. brush your teeth
When you forget to brush your teeth there is no ‘freak out’ needed. You just feel better if you don’t forget and you make sure you get it in the next day. Start with 20 minutes just to create the habit. Then add 5 min.
Can you find a neighbor that will walk with you regularly. I have this same problem. I like to walk but not alone and don’t really know my neighbors. That way, when they call to go walking you’ll be more motivated…hopefully.
I bought and app for my iPod touch called 5K Runner. It basically helps you learn to run 5k. You do it like 3 times per week starting with mostly just walking then a teeny bit of running and slowly the intervals of running increase.
It has been AMAZING. You get badges (which for me help make it a game which makes it more interesting for me) plus great exercise plus I have NEVER been a runner and now I can run 35 minutes without stopping and I am obese!!! lol
I also have a dog and take my dog to dog park along river dykes where I’ve met a bunch of dog people that I usually walk with.
