Just Diagnosed With ADHD (Adults)

My 6 yr old newly diagnosed with ADHD

Hi everyone. I’m new to all of this. My son was recently diagnosed and is currently on Focalin 15mg which doesn’t seem to be working.

Any suggestions or help is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,
Nicolas’Mom

I would definitely post this to Just Diagnosed With ADHD (Children) instead; this forum is for adults who are newly diagnosed.

To Nicolas’Mom
If Nicolas is in school, begin a notebook where the teacher can note the times of day when the med. wans.  My daughter was just diagnosed last year and we started with focalin.  We tried increasing the dosage but eventaully switched to Concerta.  Also make sure you and he have regular check in times with the doctor and take your documentation with you.
It takes some time for the body to adjust to the correct med and the finding the correct dosage.

The meds you try should work right away. So I would say go back to your Dr. Focalin is a non stimulant and perhaps he needs a stimulant. Don’t be shocked when you find that your doctor doesn’t know very much on the condition.
