Couples With One ADHD Partner

Need advice dealing with my ADHD girlfriend

First off, my girlfriend is the one who found this website and created the username for me. She wanted me to scroll through the messages boards to try and find a few that I can relate to, but it seems like all of them pertane to women with husbands/boyfriends with ADHD, not the other way around.  We’ve been living together for the past 4 months, and it has been hard for me. She’s been diagnosed with ADHD, and even though I know what it is, I am having a difficult time understanding what that means in relation to her actions/behavior. If there are any guys in my situation, please give me advice on what to do.

I’m not a guy, but I can point you to some articles that offer strategies to have a strong relationship despite ADHD. wink

(swap out husband or wife for girlfriend in any of them)

If you are on Facebook, I suggest joining ADHD SPOUSE SUPPORT. Some really great guys - yes, lots of women - some married, some not, with advice but almost more importantly support. Best of luck.

The web site includes men with ADHD partners and is not just for married couples. Suggest you read the book “Is it You, Me or Adult ADD” by Gina Perra, as well. Also Russell Barkley’s “Taking Charge of Adult ADHD.” The site has discounted books. And articles and books by Thomas E. Brown (some are on

Good luck.
