Christians With ADHD

New to the forum! :)

Hi all!

My long-term boyfriend was diagnosed with ADHD last year. He started on Wellbutrin last year, then Adderall in April. That has been a journey to say the least. I’m happy to have found you all and just ask that you keep us in your prayers that he continues to get the care that he needs.

I’m glad to hear that he’s taking advantage of the blessings of meds.  The most important thing any of us need, besides Jesus, is an ADVOCATE on this earth.  Someone who understands the condition inside and out and who believes that our fight is not against ‘flesh and blood’, but the Enemy who would separate us into our stances of pride and offense.
God bless you both as you work through your relationship.  Stay on the same side with Jesus as your guide.

Welcome to the forum!  The best thing to do now is learn as much as you can about adult ADHD.  There are some excellent books out there.  Dr. Russell Barkley is my favourite (he is THE expert on ADHD these days).  You also might want to check out his YouTube video entitled “Essential Ideas for Parents” - it is a good overview, even for adults. You can find it on this website too.  Dr. Ed Hallowell is also great. Most of these books can be found in your local library.  The more you know about ADHD, the better you can handle the inevitable “ups and downs” that come along with it.

With God by your side, you will not be walking this journey alone!

The kind and gracious acceptance that you are showing is wonderful.

Thank you all!

We’ve read Driven to Distraction and Delivered from Distraction. He’s currently reading “Taking Charge of your Adult ADHD” by Dr. Barkley. We both want the best life and understanding that we can get, and are taking it head on. We’re very blessed that there is education available that wouldn’t have been years ago.

You’re all wonderful - don’t forget that!
