Overnight Summer Camp for ADHD kid?

Hi I am thinking about the summer camp for my ADHD son and came across a camp called: Camp Sequola. It seems that it is an overnight camp for ADHD kids. Have anyone had any experience with this camp? Do you think it is ok for an about 8 years old ADHD boy to stay overnight for about 3 weeks?

Thanks a lot!

I don’t know about the specific camp you are referring to, but my ADHD son does extremely well at regular overnight camp.  It is a very structured environment which helps him know what to expect   He continues his medicine at camp.

He started going to camp at @ age 8 -  however I think a 3 week stretch might be too much for your son.  Start with a week - 2 weeks max. and see how it goes.  You can always send him back for more weeks later in the summer or next year.

Not all kids love camp.  There are bugs, swimming lessons, rules and cabin mates. But for those who enjoy it (like our son), it has been a wonderful experience.

Hi Staypositive,
thanks! Can I know what kind of overnight camp you sent your son?

My son is 8, has ADHD and dyslexia, and is not ready for sleep away camp for any length of time.

I think as his parent, you will know best.  Trust your instincts!
