Gifted ADHD Children
Really need to find a good referral--
HI,
We need to find a really good child psychiatrist (the best of the best) that has experience with ADHD/Anxiety and gifted. Do you know of anyone that is in the Southeast area of the country? I’ve found a couple in California but that’s too far for us to go. I’d like to find someone in Georgia or close by but I’m willing to drive just about anywhere for the right doctor

I see a recent ADHD conference that took place 5 yrs ago in Atlanta; perhaps some of these presenters are still in Atlanta:
Ann Abramowitz, Ph.D.
Dr. Abramowitz is a clinical psychologist. She is a member of the faculty at Emory University in the Psychology Department and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and consults to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on AD/HD. In addition to AD/HD, she specializes in assessment and treatment of learning and behavior problems in children and adolescents, including behavioral family therapy and school-based interventions. Her prior experience includes serving as special education coordinator of a school district. Currently, she chairs the Professional Advisory Board of CHADD.
Chris A. Zeigler Dendy, M.S.
Chris is an author, educator, school psychologist and children”Ēs mental health professional with over 35 years experience. She is also the mother of two grown sons and a daughter who have AD/HD. Ms. Dendy chaired her local mental health board, cofounded Gwinnett Georgia CHADD and served as its clinical advisor. She presents nationally and internationally and has authored three books…

Patrice Harris, M.D., M.A.
Dr. Harris is a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Medicine and in addition to her general psychiatry training, completed fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. She is currently Medical Director for the Fulton County Department of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases and maintains a private practice. Joan Teach, Ph.D., M.S.
Dr. Teach has been the director of Lullwater School since 1979. Lullwater teaches learning strategies to AD/HD learners through an individually developed curriculum for alternative-needs youngsters. She earned a Ph.D. from Georgia State University and serves as an adjunct professor at Kennesaw State University. She founded one of the first CHADD groups in Georgia and is a member of the CHADD Board of Directors.

I have one of Chris Dendy’s books. Her son is ADHD.
If you are open to alternative medicine, there is a doctor in New York who specializes in spectrum disorders and diet. Apparently, he has cured or improved the lives of many kids with Autism, Aspergers and ADHD. His name is Dr. Bock.
