Ritalin Reviews

Ritalin (brand) 20mg works great! Comments?

Replies

I went on Ritalin (actually the generic, methylphenidate) a few months ago and it was working great - until I started a new job a couple of months ago. I don’t know if it’s the additional load from the new job, or just the Ritalin pooping out, but it’s not working as well as it did when I first started it.  I have been taking 30 mg twice per day.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I have been taking Ritalin non-generic for 17 yrs & have found only 1 or 2 generic brands that will work short-term,meaning they initially seem ok & within two wks they are useless. I pay more & swear by the brand. I take 4 20mg regular release daily. I have actually gotten generic brands like mylan before & couldn’t believe how non-focused I felt.

I also take adder all, 15mg 4 times daily. Started this during perimenopause & it really helped my focus. Then had hysterectomy & omg! Thought I had Adhd x 3! Doing BHRT for two yrs & meds definitely work better with higher hormone levels. Have you had your thyroid levels checked?

I am 55 and just got info about ADHD… I took a 10mg retalin! It was the best thing I can say for me!!! It lasted about 4 hours…..OH to have only a few thoughts and ideas was FANTASTC!!! I have done 4 days now one in the morning one mid-afternoon. I have never had soooooo much fun getting something done!!! No running around on a whim and doing 10 plus things at the same time… follow through..no side effects… no opps I did it again!! raspberry   I am scared to take more I do not want to be flat! Is it so that it is so much that often??? I do not got the go on this, but it works! and my brain is clear… it is awesome! There you said about horomones… that could kick in anytime YICKS!!!! I am glad I found this site for sure!!! Happy New Year

My son is 5 and in kindergarten and he was just bumped up to 20mg Methylphenidate. He just started Monday and so far I have seen improvements, but I am really worried that after a few weeks it won’t work just like the 10mg Ritalin.

Sukirunsfast,
I found the stress of a job can screw everything up. Your schedule of waking and eating change. It is easy to forget to take the second dose and maybe another condition is manifesting itself. Check with the doc. You may want to try a long acting med.

Addgal,
I did not think you were suppose to take 2 different stimulants. I heard there could be drug interactions.

Lot’s of people do it. follow your doctors advice. just be sure to not take too much. I imagine taking medicine that many times a day can get confusing.

That’s why they make the long acting drugs so you don’t have to remember.

Take your time and don’t sweat it. After 2 weeks report back to your doctor. It is not as if a tolerance is building up but everyone’s metabolism is different and takes a while to level out.  Just take it one step at a time. Your concern is understandable.

Good Luck
