Strattera

There are alot of discussions on children. I thought this site was for adults. I’m in my 50’s and am in graduate school. I was on vyvanse and it worked great. However my psychiatrist retired and I went to a new one to get a prescription and he put me on Strattera.  Nothing has changed. Has anyone else had this problem? I’m having a really hard time…

I’m sorry, I thought I was on the adult ADD page…

Hi, pdpurdy54, I think the med group is for any age group. I’m now on Strattera. It’s working for the most part except for motivation. I increased the dose very very slowly. Everyone responds differently to Meds. I’m sorry your doc change what was working for you. Maybe he/she will change it back. Or find a new doc. I’m also in my 50’s. Janab.

It is a normal procedure that when you start a new med you have to ramp up the dosage to hit the target window.

You want the med to provide the right amount of med to last the time period you need covered without unwanted side effects. This can take a while.

Why did the doc change the meds?

If you were not told about the treatment plan and what to expect, how to report results and what the normal procedure for dosing up and identifying unwanted side effects than the doctor has not really done his job.

Par for the course unfortunately. Either find a good doctor or learn it yourself.

Dr Charles Parker has a new book about this that I highly recommend. He discusses a load of these issues on videos and a booklet. I have posted all of it here for you to check out for free and if you want to really learn than buy the book.

The book is written for anyone but I think his goal is to train the doctors who prescribe meds but don’t know what they are doing (unfortunately most doctors).

I don’t like strattera for myself as once there was a glitch with my insurance and my supply was interrupted and I have never had such terrible thoughts/depression. I vowed to never go near this med again for this reason.
