ADHD in Washington
Support group for spouses of ADD
My wife is desperately looking for a support group or contact for herself. I am the one with ADD and it has huge impacts on our life. She would really like to find a group or some one to talk to at times when my ADD is driving her crazy. We live in the Tacoma area. If anyone knows of anything please let me know. Thanks.

I don’t know of any support groups specific for spouses in the area, although I think the Seattle CHADD group welcomes spouses. But I have also wished to find a group specific for spouses only, since that’s the boat I’m in. I’m a little north of Seattle, maybe we could start one…
I asked the NWCHADD mailing list if they knew of any, and someone recommended Don Baker’s couples support groups as a good resource: http://www.donbakerma.com/groups.html
Couple of options:
Don Baker, MA holds 4 workshops a year for couples that live with ADHD. The workshops address ADHD relationship issues and provide an opportunity for
non-ADHD spouses to connect.

I also agree with the previous post that the spouse with ADHD should look into joining Don Baker’s Life Strategies group… I have been in the groups for 2 years and the support, information and experience have led me to many positive changes in my life.
Don is outstanding!

ADDResources holds support meetings and I know that the meetings held at the Greenwood Library address ADHD issues in one room and offer a support group for non-ADHD Spouses in another room. I see it as a win-win as the ADHD spouse learns about ADHD issues and the non- ADHD spouse has the opportunity to connect with other non-ADHD spouses. Essentially, both partners get time and support from their
own “tribe” members.
Hope you are getting helpful answers!
I just created a new Meetup group for ADHD partners here: http://www.meetup.com/SeattleADHDPartners/
