Voice control

I need help. Anyone has a problem with your ADHD kid because he can’t control his voice tone? Ideas on how help him to control it? Teachers are constantly complaining because my son is unable to control his voice. It sounds like he is screaming specially if he is exited, or upset. We checked his ears and they are just fine. Thanks!

Sounds like my 7 year old.  Why doesn’t the teacher start a star reward system?  For every class/subject he is quiet in, he gets a star.  If my 7 year old gets all stars she gets a treat at home that day.  It is working beautifully for us.  It started being used because she would call out instead of raising her hand.  It has evolved for what ever is needed for the week!

Good luck!

Try occupational therapy. OT is a fairly common treatment for ADHD, especially for those who also have sensory issues. His loud voice sounds like a sensory issue or a lack of awareness and OT can help with both.

Here’s an article from ADDitude Magazine on occupational therapy for ADHD as well:

I have helped many youngsters with sensory issues. Through hypnosis, the behavior can be changed at the subconscious level. OT is also helpful.
