Vyvance for my Five Year Old

Is there anyone else out there giving Vyvance to their five year old? I’m switching from Ritalin. I’d love to hear some opinions from anyone who has a young child using it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

My son could not handle the side of effects of either. It took awhile and I keep really good records of what he took and SE but he is now six and we are on Focalin XR 15 mg and intuniv 2 mg twice a day.

My son began using stimulants around 5 or 6. He began with Ritalin, then moved to Adderall, but both gave him an upset stomach. The next we tried was Vyvanse, which seemed to sit better with him. He is nine now, and still uses Vyvanse without side effects to speak of.

Vyvanse has worked well for my 10 year old who started taking it when he was 6.  We had tried Focalin and Concerta before that and they did nothing for him; but the first day he took Vyvanse, his teacher said the change was amazing.  It does take away his appetite, even after 4 years of taking it, so we only give it to him on the days he is in school, and he takes Periactin, an appetite stimulant, with it.

My son started Vyvanse at 6. We started with Focalin but it made him have mood swings. We have had minimal side effects.

Well, my son tried the Vyvanse. It made him a “zombie”. He could barely talk. He was so weird, no personality. The rebound was better, but not worth how it made him. So,, back to the drawing board. Maybe when he gets older, we can try it again. :(

Vyvanse has been successful for my 9yr old.  Started at 20mg, and now at 30mg.  I would agree with PP appetite is minimized but overall the benefits out way the negatives smile

My son was on Vyvance in 6th grade, It made him very edgy and angry. Concerta works better but takes longer to start working in the morning.
