Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and ADHD

adhd, spd and now possibly diabetes?

my daughter is 9. she was diagnosed with adhd, borderline odd, probably some anxiety and definitely SPD. Now, we are thinking she may have diabetes!?! she is terrified of going to any doctor, hates having shots. I suspect that she will have to have blood drawn to be tested, possibly a urine sample. any suggestions?

I have great compassion.your child’s fears may impress others as being spoiled , babied etc. Listen to your child. Help her find the best words to describe her fears. Visiting prior to actual procedures may help her relax a tad. Remember unfamiliar all by itself is a threat before you ever begin the necessary medical procedure. Patience patience and more patience. Ask her to tell you how she is doing according to her own created scale of measure. I was that child. I have an 8 yr old granddaughter w same ADHD and SPD. Memorize all that you love about her and tell her frequently. Taking along a washable stuffed animal may help…..even a comfy little blanket that she can hold on to with a drop of lavender essential oil on it. And of course pray without ceasing. Blessings
