Concerta Reviews

dosage?

Just wondering what dosage your children are on? Does weight play a factor in dosage?

Replies

36 Mg..he weighs 66 lbs..was 74 lbs when he started last year.  Lost the weight the 1st 2 weeks and it has stayed off…Dr. not worried unless he loses more.  Not sure if weight is the main factor.  Have heard of adults on 36 mg.

My son is 11, is on 54 mg and weighs around 100 lbs.  I also know adults that take less than he takes.  We have an appointment with a new psychiatrist in a few months to evaluate his meds.  I’m concerned that my son has maxed out the safe dosage for his age and size.  It’s been years since we’ve tried different meds, Concerta has been wonderful so far.

We haven’t started the meds yet, but our doctor prescribed 27 mg for my daughter who is 50 lbs.  I mentioned her weight and he went with that number instead of the 36…

My son is 44 lbs and he is on 18mg right now. We just started this medicine today so we’ll see how it goes.

My son was initially on 27 mg because that was what was the starting dosage for his weight, according to the doctor. He weighed about 50 - 60 lbs then. This winter it was increased to 36 mg because it wasn’t lasting as long (or long enough smile as he needed. The new dose, and taking it on weekends so he doesn’t crash on Mondays, has really helped. He’s now 12 and about 90 lbs.
