why all the whinning???

my son who has adhd always whines, he seems like he doesn’t even have a normal voice, its a baby whining voice, and he is always screaming and talking really loud. the minute he wakes up he makes these loud sounds and is screaming and stomping his feet…it can really set ur mood for the day sometimes too, and I am just not sure what to do.  I have tried giving him his meds earlier in the morning, but it just doesn’t seem to make a difference.  any suggestions?..or is anyone else have a child with this same annoiying issue?

My 6 year old son does the exact same thing. When he gets up he makes loud sounds also. Mornings are a struggle when he wakes up because it is a fight to do the daily tasks such as brushing teeth, putting on clothes, etc. He whines All the time and kicks or hits at us when things don’t go his way. Once he takes his meds it is like a different child the house. Although it seems like his meds are helping him stay focused and calm during the day, I am starting to wonder how we can help with his behavior.  It can be quite draining at times.

Our daughter went through a baby voice whiny phase, which really pushed my buttons. At first I tried to talk it out with her, find.out why she was doing it, remind her to adjust when she did it, etc. Finally my husband and I simply refused to acknowledge we heard her until she repeated herself in her own lovely voice. That cleared it up pretty quickly!

I have been raising my 9 yr old GS for past three years and yes, the baby talk, whining is extemely annoying. He also likes to chant and talk about inappropriate things like pooping and farting.  This is always before his meds kick in, after that he is polite and well behaved.  I always say the first hour and the last hour of the day are the hardest.  Recently we were at the car dealership getting my oil changed and the childrens area had Dora the Explorer on the TV and he didn’t even want to sit in the area because “thats a cartoon for babies”.  When we got in the car to leave I told him that he reminded me of Dora because she likes to chant “we did it, we did it, we did it” and that is how he sounds sometimes.  I also told him that he sort of reminded me of Boots because he says “Goo-goo guy-guy” and asked if he learned that from watching Boots.  I told him I hope none of your buddies from school ever hear you chant or baby talk because they will think you have been watching Dora and Boots. Well since then he has stopped chanting and baby talking.  Now if we can just stop talking about poop and farts!

I thought i was the only one with this problem. My 6 year old son is soooo loud in the mornings, and when he tries to explain things he whines. I also don’t know what to do to control this.
